The challenge
- Facilitate website maintenance and reduce costly technical updates.
- Unintuitive editorial interface for the internal team.
- Outdated premium membership system that is difficult to integrate with your CRM processes.
- Integration with Salesforce, enabling and facilitating synchronization with subscribers and donors.
- Need to maintain a high standard of performance, security, and accessibility.
The solution
- Implementation of automatic security update flows, uptime monitoring, and daily backups.
- Complete migration of content (articles, authors, categories, images) to WordPress, maintaining editorial hierarchy and SEO architecture.
- Custom templates with ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) will be developed to replicate key Drupal functionalities.
- An intuitive visual editor uses Block Editor + custom fields without excessive reliance on plugins.
- Synchronization of forms and user profiles with Salesforce CRM.
- Use Webhooks and Zapier (or direct integrations via API) to connect subscriptions, contact forms, and donation reports.
- Implementation of a paid membership system for exclusive access, among other features.

Site Maintenance
Site maintenance routines were established to ensure long-term site performance: automatic updates, uptime monitoring, speed optimization, and compliance with accessibility standards. This ensures that the platform functions properly and is reliable for a critical and global audience.
Site Migration: From Drupal to WordPress
The first step was to migrate the site from Drupal to WordPress, which allowed for greater flexibility, scalability, and ease of use for the internal team. All historical content – including scientific articles, blog posts, authors, and multimedia files – was transferred, ensuring the preservation of URLs and SEO structure. We used Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to create a custom backend that replicates the editorial complexity of Drupal but with the simplicity and control of WordPress.
Salesforce Integration
Integration with Salesforce was key to maintaining a connected ecosystem. Through API integrations and tools such as Zapier, subscription forms, user data, and key events (such as renewals or cancellations) were connected directly to the institution's development and marketing team's CRM.
Premium Subscription System
A premium membership system was implemented, offering exclusive content to subscribers, managing recurring payments, and providing differentiated access without compromising the reading experience.
